We are currently seeking a Power Supply Engineer – Production Support specializing in Power Supply design, test, and troubleshooting. The candidate must be comfortable working with commercial off-the-shelf and custom hardware designs to meet hardware requirements. As the Power Supply Subsystem Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for a Production Airborne Radar program, you will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and suppliers to achieve technical excellence. This opportunity is for a versatile Power Supply engineer possessing a blend of practical application, and hands-on integration abilities. If necessary, travel will be required to work on site in various manufacturing locations nation-wide.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • A minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience in power supply test, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with AC-DC and DC-DC converters, as well as familiarity with EMI design and analysis.
  • Experience integrating hardware and software for power supply hardware applications, especially for airborne radar systems.
  • Experience with power subsystems and a working understanding of architecture, design, and integration processes.
  • Proficient with common test equipment such as logic analyzers, multimeters, power supplies, and oscilloscopes.
  • Active and transferable US Government issued security clearance prior to the start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • More than 5 years of experience in power supply design, integration, and testing.
  • Experience in power supply design, including modeling and simulation tools and circuit analysis tools.
  • Experience with control theory, control loop compensation and loop stability measurement.
  • Experience in Root-Cause Corrective Action Investigations
  • Proficient in magnetics theory and its practical application to transformer design and implementation.
  • Familiarity with resolving production issues with suppliers and sub-tier suppliers.
  • Ability to determine technical paths forward for obsolescence and production challenges.
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Power Supply Design.

Responsibilities

  • As a production support engineer, you will leverage your strong engineering expertise to address a wide range of challenges, including but not limited to Power Supply design, test, and troubleshooting.
  • Your fundamental knowledge of mathematics and physics will be critical as you troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during daily operations.
  • In this role, you’ll use sound judgment and prioritize tasks effectively to determine the best approach for problem-solving, ensuring seamless production processes.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in aerospace and defense applications, working with intricate Power Supply designs, and ensuring compliance with military and industry standards.
  • Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with cross-discipline teams, including systems engineering, mechanical engineering, software, mission assurance, and program management.
  • Other key responsibilities include daily discussions with the production facility, weekly presentations to senior leadership, and the ability to work on site in various manufacturing locations nation-wide.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support manufacturing locations on-site.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and other Engineering disciplines to achieve/document concurrence and resolve issues that may arise during production, testing, and integration.
  • Troubleshoot and lead efforts to resolve power supply hardware and process issues down to the PCB and component levels.
  • Provide technical, schedule, and cost inputs to management to support planning and decision-making.
  • Work with both commercial off-the-shelf and custom hardware designs to meet hardware requirements.
