About The Position

The Power Scheduler plays a critical role in ensuring the reliable, compliant, and value‑optimizing execution of ConocoPhillips’ physical power portfolio. This position sits at the intersection of trading, operations, and settlements, translating commercial intent into accurate, timely power schedules across multiple U.S. power markets. Working in a fast‑paced, real‑time environment, the Power Scheduler helps protect portfolio value, supports regulatory compliance, and enables the business to meet its commitments during both routine operations and peak demand periods. This role offers meaningful exposure to U.S. power markets and close partnership with traders, marketers, accounting, and external market operators. It is well suited for someone who thrives on problem‑solving, collaboration, and accountability, and who wants to build deep operational expertise while contributing directly to business performance.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Engineering, related field, or foreign equivalent.
  • 1 or more year of relevant industry experience, with demonstrated analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple assignments with competing deadlines
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, including formulas and pivot tables.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in power scheduling or power market operations.
  • Exposure to U.S. power markets, particularly within the Western Interconnection.
  • Familiarity with energy trading or scheduling systems such as TriplePoint (experience preferred but not required).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong alignment with team and business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily, hourly, and monthly physical power schedules to ensure all contractual and market obligations are met accurately and on time.
  • Schedule physical power flows using industry platforms and market portals, including the Open Access Technology International (OATI) system and applicable Independent System Operator (ISO) and Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) systems.
  • Submit and manage power schedules in the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), and PJM Interconnection markets.
  • Establish and manage physical transmission paths and financial book‑outs within the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) footprint.
  • Maintain and enhance daily scheduling tools and spreadsheets to support accurate execution and transparency.
  • Monitor scheduled versus actual flows, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues in real time to preserve portfolio value and minimize operational risk.
  • Collaborate with trading, marketing, and transmission teams on short‑term and long‑term power and transmission transactions to help optimize the portfolio.
  • Partner closely with back‑office accounting to support timely reconciliations, settlements, and monthly close activities.
  • Enter and validate balancing and ISO trades in the TriplePoint energy trading and risk management system.
  • Support regulatory and compliance reporting, including annual Washington and California carbon reporting requirements.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external counterparties to ensure clear communication and efficient execution.
