About The Position

On behalf of the Department for Business and Trade, we are looking for a Power Platform Specialist for a 12-month hybrid contract. This role requires working up to 2 days per week in any DBT office in the UK. An active SC Clearance is an essential requirement, and candidates must be willing and eligible to undergo checks. Preference may be given to candidates who hold active security clearance due to the time-critical nature of the role. The specialist will work on the Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST) Machinery of Government (MoG) change, supporting or supplementing teams where existing specialists are diverted to MoG work. The BIST MoG discovery phase is set to begin in October 2026, with delivery in 2028. This is a time-critical activity focused on gathering evidence for future decisions regarding service transitions, operating models, people impacts, technology migration, and delivery planning.

Responsibilities

  • Assess fDSIT Power Platform solutions against BIST Power Platform standards and provide reports on readiness for migration.
  • Document remediation required for fDSIT Power Platform solutions and carry out said activities.
  • Liaise with fDSIT and fDBT colleagues to prioritise sequencing of Power Platform solutions for import.
  • Assess fDSIT Power Platform solutions for technical debt that may remain and require remediation post-migration.
  • Participate in Machinery of Government forums as subject matter expert for Power Platform, collaborate with BIST Power Platform engineers in all aspects of Machinery of Government changes. Provide written and verbal responses to questions and commissions.
  • Carry out necessary assurance and governance tasks related to Power Platform solutions within BIST including completion of assurance documentation and templates, presenting in relevant assurance forums.
  • Prepare fDSIT solutions for transition to support in BIST by producing documents / artefacts as defined by transition standards and conducting knowledge transfer sessions.
  • Act as lead representative for the Microsoft Service Team in Machinery of Government discussions specifically for Power Platform and provide briefings for the wider Microsoft Service Team on progress and decisions related to the BIST Machinery of Government Change.
  • Contribute to Power Platform Roadmap activities and discussions where fDSIT solutions may affect delivery of the BIST roadmap.
