About The Position

The Power Platform Engineer Mid designs, develops, and maintains business automation and analytics solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform to support SEC ISS contract operations. This role focuses primarily on building Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, and Power BI dashboards that streamline operational processes, automate manual tasks, and deliver actionable insights to SEC leadership and program teams. The engineer works within the Microsoft 365 GCC environment, integrating Power Platform solutions with SharePoint, Teams, Dataverse, and enterprise services while ensuring compliance with SEC data governance, DLP policies, and FedRAMP requirements. This position is a hybrid role and will require onsite work in Washington, DC a few days a week.

Requirements

  • Requires US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust (or higher if required).
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience developing solutions on the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
  • Demonstrated experience building Canvas Apps and/or Model-driven Apps connected to SharePoint, Dataverse, or SQL data sources.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and managing Power Automate cloud flows for business process automation (approvals, notifications, data integration).
  • Demonstrated experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards with DAX, data modeling, and scheduled refresh.
  • Experience working within Microsoft 365 environments (SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive) as integration targets for Power Platform solutions.
  • Experience with Power Platform governance concepts (environments, DLP policies, solution lifecycle/ALM).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) for understanding identity, permissions, and conditional access as it relates to application access.

Responsibilities

  • Power Apps Development: Design, develop, and maintain Canvas Apps and Model-driven Apps to support SEC business processes including intake forms, approval workflows, asset tracking, and operational reporting.
  • Build responsive, user-friendly applications that integrate with SharePoint lists, Dataverse tables, Microsoft 365 services, and REST APIs.
  • Translate business requirements from SEC stakeholders into functional Power App solutions, including prototyping, user testing, and iterative improvement.
  • Manage application lifecycle including versioning, environment promotion (Dev → Test → Production), and solution packaging.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, performance bottlenecks, and connector failures.
  • Power Automate & Workflow Automation: Design and build cloud flows, scheduled flows, instant flows, and business process flows to automate repetitive tasks, approvals, notifications, and data routing across SEC operations.
  • Create multi-step approval workflows supporting change management, onboarding, access requests, and service delivery processes.
  • Integrate Power Automate with SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, ServiceNow, Dataverse, and other enterprise systems using standard and custom connectors.
  • Implement error handling, retry logic, and exception management to ensure automation reliability and auditability.
  • Monitor flow performance, identify failures, and optimize automation for efficiency and compliance.
  • Support Robotic Process Automation (RPA) initiatives using Power Automate Desktop where applicable.
  • Power BI Reporting & Analytics: Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that deliver operational metrics, SLA performance data, KPI tracking, and executive-level insights to SEC leadership.
  • Design data models connecting to SharePoint, Dataverse, SQL, Excel, ServiceNow, and other data sources used across SEC ISS operations.
  • Write DAX measures and calculated columns to support complex analytical requirements.
  • Publish and manage reports in Power BI workspaces with appropriate row-level security and access controls.
  • Collaborate with program managers, service delivery leads, and business process engineers to define reporting requirements and visualization standards.
  • Automate data refresh schedules and monitor report health and usage metrics.
  • Platform Governance & Compliance: Support Power Platform governance including environment management, DLP policy configuration, connector allowlisting, and capacity monitoring.
  • Ensure all Power Platform solutions comply with SEC data governance policies, FedRAMP requirements, and GCC tenant restrictions.
  • Maintain technical documentation for all developed solutions including architecture diagrams, data flows, and operational runbooks.
  • Support audit readiness by maintaining evidence of solution controls, access permissions, and change history.
  • Advise SEC stakeholders on Power Platform best practices, limitations within GCC, and solution design patterns.
  • Collaboration & Service Integration: Partner with M365 engineers, SharePoint administrators, and infrastructure teams to ensure Power Platform solutions integrate cleanly with the broader SEC environment.
  • Support service desk and operations teams by building automation that reduces manual ticket handling, improves routing, and provides self-service capabilities.
  • Participate in requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and prioritize development backlog.
  • Provide technical mentorship and knowledge transfer to team members on Power Platform development and best practices.
