About The Position

Shall perform the duties of Power Plant and Substation Electrician. In addition, install, maintain and troubleshoot electronic, computerized and electrical equipment as assigned. This role involves installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining communication, data processing, and computerized control equipment. The position requires keeping operating records, maintaining solid state devices, computers, telemetering equipment, protective relays, and switchboard instruments. The electrician will work from construction prints, wiring diagrams, and instruction books, and will be responsible for making sketches of wiring circuits and maintaining prints up to date. Familiarity with the operating principles of power plant, computerized controls, substation equipment, and other assigned equipment is essential. The role also requires the ability to use specific test instruments such as oscilloscopes, wattmeters, phase angle meters, signal generators, electronic couplers, and phase shifters, as well as other required equipment for testing. Staying updated on new equipment and necessary test equipment is also a key aspect of this role. Additionally, the electrician will assist in training journeymen and apprentices.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to work front construction prints, wiring diagrams, and instruction books.
  • Ability to make sketches of wiring circuits and maintain prints up to date.
  • Familiarity with and understanding of operating principles of power plant, computerized controls, substation equipment, and other equipment assigned.
  • Ability to use specific test instruments: oscilloscope, wattmeter, phase angle meter, signal generator, electronic coupler, phase shifter, and other instruments and last equipment required to test certain equipment.
  • Ability to keep abreast of new equipment installed and test equipment required to maintain it.
  • Ability to assist in training journeymen and apprentices.
