About The Position

Alliant Energy is seeking a Power Plant & Substation Electrician at the Apprentice or Journey level, dependent upon qualifications. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic, computerized, and electrical equipment within power plants and substations. The company emphasizes safety, community service, and powering future energy needs. This position is located at the Ottumwa Generating Station and is not subject to residency requirements. The pay range for this role is $40.04 - $53.38 per hour.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Ability to install, maintain and troubleshoot electronic, computerized and electrical equipment.
Familiarity with operating principles of power plant, computerized controls, substation equipment.
Ability to use various test instruments including oscilloscope, wattmeter, phase angle meter, signal generator, electronic coupler, and phase shifter.

Responsibilities

Install, troubleshoot and maintain communication, data processing, and computerized control equipment.
Keep operating records as required by the Company.
Maintain solid state devices, computers, telemetering equipment, protective relays, and switchboard instruments.
Work from construction prints, wiring diagrams, and instruction books, and make sketches of wiring circuits and maintain prints up to date.
Be familiar with and understand operating principles of power plant, computerized controls, substation equipment, and other assigned equipment.
Use test instruments such as oscilloscope, wattmeter, phase angle meter, signal generator, electronic coupler, phase shifter, and other required equipment.
Keep abreast of new equipment installed and test equipment required to maintain it.
Assist in training journeymen and apprentices.
