Gainesville Regional Utilities is seeking a safety-focused, highly skilled Production Technician to support the reliable operation and maintenance of the John R. Kelly Generating Station. This position performs advanced, multi-craft work involving plant operations, mechanical systems, electrical equipment, instrumentation, controls, and preventive maintenance in a power-generating environment. The ideal candidate will have journey-level expertise in plant operations or a technical maintenance discipline, along with experience troubleshooting equipment, operating generating units and auxiliary systems, completing work orders, and responding effectively to changing plant conditions. This role requires independent decision-making, strong technical and analytical skills, strict adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work rotating shifts and respond during emergencies. The work schedule is rotating shift work that requires flexibility to support a 24-hour operation and may work at any of the GRU Energy Supply generating sites. Depending on area of assignment, positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor or manager and work as a self-directed team or under limited supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from other classes by its, performance of advanced, multi-skilled technical and operational functions and the requirement to train and instruct personnel. This posting may be used to fill multiple vacancies and may also be used to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. Assessment as part of the selection process may be required. If selected, starting pay will be based on the appropriate PTTP placement level and is not guaranteed to be at the top of the posted range. This is multi-skilled mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control maintenance, operations, and administrative shiftwork in a process plant, such as a power-generating facility or central utility plant. Depending on area of assignment, positions are allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor or manager and work as a self-directed team or under limited supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from other classes by its performance of advanced, multi-skilled technical and operational functions and the requirement to train and instruct personnel. South Energy Center: Must be highly skilled in operations and a technical craft and able to work without any supervision and work as a single person shift while supporting better than a 99.99% uptime on critical hospital services including, but not limited to: power, chilled water, steam, heating hot water.
