About The Position
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of 3 coal-fired Hot Water boilers, related support and auxiliary equipment and systems in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and local Regulations. The role involves providing supervision, support, training, and guidance to the inmate workforce performing routine daily tasks, corrective maintenance procedures, and plant operations. The primary goal is to ensure continuous, reliable steam flow to the Institution in a safe and efficient manner. This role is considered essential personnel.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Virginia Driver's License.
- Experience working with hand tools, electrical and pneumatic power tools and equipment.
- The demonstrated ability to read and follow written procedures and prioritize work assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally, electronically and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, analyze and repair equipment as necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply operating procedures and policies.
- Demonstrated ability to complete work assignments with minimal guidance from supervisor or others.
- Experience with Microsoft office Suite.
Nice To Haves
- Training and experience in Boiler operation, maintenance, and repair.
- State certified Boiler Operator License.
- General maintenance experience.
- Plumbing and electrical experience.
- Word, Excel program experience.
- Working knowledge of hot water boiler operation, water treatment chemistry, and all associated auxiliary equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, analyze and repair equipment as necessary.
- Be able to use Time & Attendance software/programs.
- Heavy equipment operation.
Responsibilities
