About The Position
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of 3 coal-fired High Pressure steam boilers, related support and auxiliary equipment and systems in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and local Regulations. The role involves providing supervision, support, training, and guidance to the inmate workforce performing routine daily tasks, corrective maintenance procedures, and plant operations. The primary goal is to ensure continuous, reliable steam flow to the Institution in a safe and efficient manner. This role is considered essential personnel and involves supervising and training inmates on safe plant operations and maintenance practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Virginia Drivers License.
- Experience working with hand tools, electrical and pneumatic power tools and equipment.
- The ability to read and follow written procedures and prioritize work assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally, electronically and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, analyze and repair equipment as necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply operating procedures and policies.
- Demonstrated ability to complete work assignments with minimal guidance from supervisor or others.
- Experience with Microsoft office Suite.
Nice To Haves
- Advanced knowledge, training, certification or experience in Boiler operation, maintenance and repair.
- Journey level experience in Power Plant operations or State certified Boiler Operator License.
