About The Position

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) is seeking a power plant engineering intern for the summer of 2027. This role is for a junior or rising senior with an Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering background and will be located in the Austin, TX area. LCRA has been serving Texans since 1934, focusing on improving life across the region through initiatives like building dams and bringing electricity to rural areas. The company is looking for the next generation of innovators to help write its future.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university/college program in junior year or has completed junior year and will be starting senior year.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of progressively responsible engineering assignments involving engineering principles, under the limited supervision of a licensed professional engineer.
  • Contribute to engineering projects involving adaptations and modifications to Power Plant systems, equipment, materials and procedures.
  • Contribute to tests and diagnosis and evaluation of equipment performance for power plants.
  • Prepare reports, operating instructions and project outlines in connection with engineering assignments.
  • Follow appropriate business procedures, and apply project management techniques.
