About The Position

This position performs work essential to the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of large heating and/or cooling plant(s) and auxiliary equipment for the assigned facility, with services provided being critical to the health and comfort of facility users, clients, and visitors. Alberta Infrastructure is responsible for delivering about one quarter of the Alberta government’s Capital Plan, which addresses the provincial infrastructure needs of Alberta’s population that support key social programs and services and economic development. The Ministry designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and hospital infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. Infrastructure also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

Requirements

  • Fourth Class Power Engineer’s Certificate
  • Related experience or education (e.g. related diploma) may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.

  • Operations and maintenance procedures for heating and cooling systems and related auxiliary equipment.

  • Relevant provisions of legislation, regulations, directives, policies, and codes (e.g., ABSA regulations, mechanical system and equipment standards, Site Maintenance Manuals, Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS regulations, First Aid and CPR standards, Code of Conduct and Ethics, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act).
  • Relevant information, building management control, and maintenance management systems and business productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Internet)

Responsibilities

  • Heating and cooling plant components and other mechanical and auxiliary equipment within the assigned facility are operated and maintained in accordance with established policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Routine maintenance of boilers and other mechanical and auxiliary equipment within the assigned facility.
  • Preventative maintenance is performed on mechanical and auxiliary equipment within the assigned facility.
  • Administrative and other services are provided in support of facility operations and maintenance.
  • Building Maintenance on multiple buildings on site.
