About The Position

This role involves developing and maintaining a deep understanding of electric power systems, focusing on their protection, monitoring, and control. The Power Engineer will contribute to product specifications, analyze functional tests, and create application literature. They will provide essential power engineering support to customer applications and Field Application Engineers, and play a key role in developing and presenting innovative power system protection solutions. The position also emphasizes modeling, teaching, and applying company values and manufacturing principles, with a commitment to understanding, creating, and simplifying processes. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Typically 2+ years experience in electric power systems, protection practices, and philosophies
  • Excellent technical training skills
  • Working knowledge of apparatus and protective relay application at an electrical utility, industrial plant
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of SEL products
  • Experience in power system modeling using EMTP

Responsibilities

  • Further develop and maintain a detailed understanding of electric power systems and how to protect, monitor, and control the power system.
  • Assist in developing product specifications, develop and analyze functional tests.
  • Assist with application literature, instruction manuals, and data sheets.
  • Provide power engineering support for customer applications and Field Application Engineers.
  • Assist in writing and reviewing innovative power system protection solutions to present at technical meetings and conferences.
  • Model, teach, and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

  • Other duties as assigned.
