About The Position

Caterpillar’s Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions (IDES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries. IDES currently has an opening for a Power Electronics EOL Sr. Test Project Engineer. This position is responsibility for the production manufacturing EOL (End of Line) test of Power Electronics product lines. The incumbent will report to the IDES Power Electronics Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will partner with and provide technical EOL testing guidance to global engineering and supplier partner teams. You will lead the planning and delivery of complex projects, continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, and drive collaboration in a cross functional environment.

Requirements

Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum or equivalent experience working in an Engineering function.
Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Extensive understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
Analytical Thinking: Extensive knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Technical Excellence: Extensive knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Product Testing: Extensive knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited college or university in an Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering/Technology curriculum OR extensive related experience in lieu of a degree.
5 years minimum relevant experience

Responsibilities

Implements and improves testing, development and validation techniques, processes, tooling and machinery to maximize product quality.
Resolving issues regarding the design or manufacturing. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient and cost-effective.
Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability.
