About The Position

As a Power Electrical Engineer Intern, you will play a vital role in developing, testing and maturing an energy storage product line. You'll contribute to the design and assembly of the electrical systems that make resilient, scalable energy storage possible. You'll thrive here if you like hard problems, want to take real ownership of projects from sketch to spec, and care about accelerating the energy transition. You'll work alongside experienced mechanical and electrical engineers who'll mentor you, challenge your assumptions, and help you develop the habits and instincts of a great hardware engineer.

Requirements

  • Continuing Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Completed Freshman year (2 semesters).
  • Strong academic performance, typically reflected by a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and components.
  • Basic understanding of industry principles and practices relevant to the department of interest.
  • CAD experience working with mechanical assemblies and drawings in SOLIDWORKS.
  • Working knowledge of Google Office Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, or similar software.
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to commit to the full duration of the internship program.
  • Availability to work the scheduled hours determined by the department's needs.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Regularly operates a computer and other peripheral office equipment such as a printer or mouse.
  • Must have the ability to occasionally safely lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be capable of standing, bending, and executing repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to read, identify, observe and recognize details, color-coding and fine print at close range on associated engineering drawings.
  • Ability to don personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to, respiratory protective equipment with proper seal, coveralls, ear protection, gloves, eye protection & safety helmet.
  • Ability to observe, detect and respond to audible and visual machine malfunction warnings.
  • Ability to communicate information so others can understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must report to work reliably and with the ability to use full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute your job.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English required.

  • Hands-on experience with Arduino, C-programming, soldering are preferred.
  • Previous internship or work experience in a related field is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support design, testing and optimization of energy storage and inverter technologies.
  • Build test fixtures.
  • Assist in test development.
  • Prototype equipment testing.
  • Collaborate with the Hardware engineer team and other cross-functional team members to enhance battery and inverter performance.
  • Act as a proactive and resourceful self-starter.
