About The Position

The Board of Regents - University System of Georgia (USG) is seeking consulting services to assist with completing a priority project to migrate IBM Cognos reports to Microsoft Power BI along with additional Power BI dashboard development work within our Enterprise Data Management and Analytics (EDMA) team. The consultant will be responsible for migrating approximately 400 Cognos reports to Power BI, developing equivalent or enhanced Power BI dashboards, and ensuring all development follows established EDMA practices, organizational data governance policies, and meets ADA Title II compliance requirements. The role also involves additional Power BI dashboard/report development and maintenance, providing production support, creating consolidated Power BI usage reports, collaborating with customers and stakeholders to analyze business problems and develop solutions, and contributing to Power BI workspace architecture, security, versioning, and documentation.

Requirements

• Expert problem-solving skills, including debugging skills, identifying sources of issues in unfamiliar code or systems, and the ability to recognize and solve recurring problems and errors.
• Advanced experience working with Oracle DBMS, PL/SQL, SQL.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Power BI, in designing and building lists, crosstabs, graphs, scorecards, metrics, filters, prompts, standard reports, and dashboards.
• Experience with IBM Cognos.
• Experience working with Microsoft Fabric.
• Knowledge of current and emerging data management and analytics technologies.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, balance priorities, and meet competing deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish team and customer rapport and work collaboratively with others to achieve project objectives.
• Required: Extensive experience with Microsoft Power BI, in designing and building lists, crosstabs, graphs, scorecards, metrics, filters, prompts, standard reports (3 Years).
• Required: Experience working with Microsoft Fabric (3 Years).
• Required: Experience with IBM Cognos (3 Years).

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of higher education data with experience in student information systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Migrate Cognos reports to Power BI by developing equivalent or enhanced Power BI dashboards.
• Develop and maintain additional Power BI dashboards/reports as assigned.
• Provide production support for dashboards and reports, including data analysis, testing, issue resolution, and enhancements.
• Create consolidated Power BI usage reports and related metrics.
• Collaborate with internal and external customers, business analysts, and team leads to analyze user business problems, evaluate functional and technical designs, and develop solutions.
• Be involved in Power BI workspace architecture, security architecture, and versioning and documentation processes.
