About The Position

Essent Group Ltd. is seeking a Power BI & Data Analytics Lead for their Operational Reporting team in Radnor, PA. This role is a senior individual contributor and technical lead responsible for designing, building, and managing enterprise analytics solutions using Power BI, semantic modeling, and data preparation. The position involves working across the full analytics stack, from data shaping and optimization to executive dashboards and self-service reporting. The lead will collaborate with Operations, IT, and Data Management to translate business needs into scalable analytics assets, guide architectural decisions, resolve data issues, and ensure the trustworthiness of enterprise reporting. This role is crucial for analytics modernization efforts, including migrating from legacy tools and establishing standardized data models.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5–8 years’ of direct Power BI / enterprise analytics experience
  • 3–5 years’ operating at a lead / senior‑individual‑contributor level influencing architecture, standards, and cross‑functional outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to design, deliver, and steward enterprise analytics solutions that support executive decision‑making, operational performance management, and regulated business processes
  • Strong expertise in Power BI architecture, including semantic models, datasets, reports, apps, storage modes, and workspace/environment design
  • Proven capability to define and govern enterprise metrics and KPIs, ensuring accuracy, consistency, reconciliation, and long‑term trust in reporting
  • Working knowledge of data engineering and backend data concepts, including SQL‑based transformations, star schema design, and upstream data dependencies
  • Ability to evaluate and implement analytics logic across the stack (data sources, transformations, semantic models), balancing performance, scalability, and maintainability
  • Demonstrated skill in diagnosing and resolving complex data, performance, and reconciliation issues across analytics and data pipelines
  • Strong ability to translate business requirements and leadership priorities into governed, scalable analytics solutions
  • Experience applying analytics governance and lifecycle practices, including promotion paths, access controls, documentation, and ownership standards
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Operations, IT, Data Engineering, and Program teams to deliver shared enterprise outcomes
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts, risks, and design trade‑offs in clear, business‑focused language
  • Ability to prioritize analytics and data work based on business impact, risk exposure, and sustainability, not just delivery speed
  • Capability to support enterprise analytics modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy reporting tools and enablement of self‑service analytics

Responsibilities

  • Design and steward enterprise Power BI semantic models, centralizing business logic, calculations, and KPIs.
  • Define and enforce standards for metric definitions, calculations, and reuse.
  • Collaborate with Data Management and IT on data sourcing, transformation, and schema design.
  • Evaluate and determine optimal placement of analytics logic for performance, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Lead the end-to-end design, development, and support of Power BI analytics solutions, including semantic models, dashboards, and apps.
  • Ensure analytics solutions meet executive, operational, and regulatory reporting needs.
  • Support and apply analytics governance practices (workspace strategy, environment promotion, access controls, documentation, ownership models).
  • Contribute to enterprise discussions on version control, change management, and analytics lifecycle management.
  • Translate business priorities into clear analytics requirements and technical designs.
  • Act as a trusted analytics advisor, communicating technical decisions and insights to stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide analysts and developers on best practices.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex performance, refresh, and reconciliation issues.
  • Make informed architectural decisions regarding storage modes, query patterns, and data volume constraints.
  • Support enterprise analytics modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy reporting tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
