Powder Coating Technician
About The Position
The Powder Coating Technician position is responsible for preparing propane tanks for powder coating, applying powder using a handheld spray gun, loading racks into the oven, monitoring curing, and inspecting the final product for quality. This role also involves understanding and maintaining powder coating equipment, troubleshooting, cleaning workstations, and adhering to relevant laws and regulations. The position operates primarily indoors in the tank refurbishment center, with some outdoor functions possible. It is a full-time role with regular hours Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the flexibility to work additional hours as needed. Travel is not expected.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Forklift certification
- Clean driving record
- Background check(s)
- Pre-employment/random drug testing
- Communication skills
- Technical and mechanical skills
- Capable of working independently
Responsibilities
- Properly prepares propane tanks for powder coating
- Applies powder to tanks using a handheld spray gun ensuring an even distribution of coating with a uniform finish
- Loads racks into the oven, monitors oven timing and temperature to ensure proper curing
- Inspects final product for quality of coating
- Understands the operation of and performs maintenance on all powder coating equipment, adjusting as needed for optimal performance
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Regular cleaning and upkeep of work stations
- Understands all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and codes pertaining to the maintenance of tanks and propane equipment
- Operate forklift to transport tanks from one area to another if needed
