About The Position

Parabit is seeking a dependable and detail oriented Powder Coater to support the preparation, coating, curing, and inspection of metal parts and custom fabricated products. This role is intended for candidates with entry level to three (3) years of powder coating, paint shop, manufacturing, automotive painting, or finishing experience. The Powder Coater will work with the Paint Shop and Production teams to produce consistent, high quality finishes while following work instructions, safety procedures, and production schedules.

Requirements

  • Entry level to three (3) years of powder coating, paint shop, manufacturing, automotive painting, metal finishing, or related hands-on production experience preferred.
  • Prior experience with powder coating equipment, spray application, curing ovens, masking, sanding, or surface preparation is helpful but not required for candidates who are willing to learn.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work orders, basic drawings, specifications, and established procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize visible finish defects or quality issues.
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality, safety, and care in handling parts.
  • Dependable, punctual, self motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare metal parts for powder coating by cleaning, sanding, deburring, masking, plugging, hanging, staging, and performing other surface preparation steps as required.
  • Apply powder coating to parts and custom products according to work orders, shop instructions, approved finishes, and quality standards.
  • Operate powder coating spray equipment, booths, curing ovens, racks, hooks, and related shop equipment in a safe and proper manner.
  • Assist with setup and changeover of colors, powders, parts, racks, and masking requirements for different jobs.
  • Monitor coverage, texture, color, cure time, oven temperature, and overall finish quality throughout the coating process.
  • Inspect finished parts for defects such as thin coverage, contamination, orange peel, pinholes, scratches, chips, inconsistent texture, or color variation.
  • Perform basic touch up, rework, and corrective preparation when needed, or escalate finish concerns to the supervisor or quality team.
  • Read and follow basic work orders, fabrication drawings, specifications, production travelers, labels, and verbal instructions.
  • Handle finished and unfinished parts carefully to prevent damage, contamination, and rework.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including routine cleaning of equipment, booths, tools, floors, racks, and surrounding areas.
  • Track materials, powders, masking supplies, hooks, racks, and related shop consumables as directed.
  • Follow all company procedures, safety rules, personal protective equipment requirements, and environmental handling requirements for powders, chemicals, and shop equipment.
  • Work with fabrication, assembly, quality, and production personnel to support schedule requirements and timely completion of customer orders.
