Powder Coater Operator (3rd Shift)
About The Position
Sets-up, operates and maintains powder coating equipment according to production requirements. This role involves ensuring the proper coverage and cure of powder coating, maintaining the system for uninterrupted production, and handling material as needed. The operator will also perform quality checks, maintain a clean work environment, and report machinery issues to technicians for repair. Additionally, the role requires performing minor repairs, waste disposal, SAP functions, training new associates, and preventive maintenance. Compliance with safety procedures like Lockout/Tagout and 5S standards is essential.
Requirements
- Mechanical aptitude and high level of hand/eye coordination.
- Capable of standing for long periods of time and frequent bending and stooping throughout the defined shift.
- Ability to operate a stand-up forklift and pallet jack.
- Capable of frequently climbing stairs.
- Ability to work with various tools used in repairing machine.
- Moderate decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to lift up to eighty (80) pounds.
- Capable of working alone.
- Able to effectively verbally communicate with team members.
- Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be able to demonstrate skillful use and knowledge of hand tools for machine repair and adjustment.

Responsibilities
- Sets-up and adjusts equipment to ensure coverage and cure of powder coating.
- Maintains system as required by production to ensure an uninterrupted process.
- Loads and unloads machine as assigned.
- Material handles, in absence of Plantwide Material Handler.
- Operates stand-up forklift and pallet jack as needed including placing and removing product from shelving and bin dumpers as well as travel.
- Performs parts quality checks and records results in WIN-SPC using computer.
- Ensures that machine, floor, aisles, etc. are clean and orderly.
- Reports major machinery issues to technician to ensure timely repair.
- Performs minor repairs on machinery.
- Disposes of waste and recyclables in proper container.
- Performs all functions required in SAP, including using RF scan gun when needed.
- Train new associates.
- Rotates between machines (9300, 9400, 9500, 9600).
- Performs preventive maintenance per schedule.
- Performs all safety checks (forklift and machine).
- Complies with Lockout/Tagout procedures when necessary.
- Maintains 5S standards.
- Meets company’s attendance standards.
- Performs other duties, as requested or required.
