About The Position

This is a Level 1 Pourer position in a foundry environment, focusing on melt and pour operations. The role involves precise pouring techniques, ladle repair, and general foundry tasks, all while adhering to strict safety protocols and working effectively within a team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Ability to use basic arithmetic functions (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing).
  • Ability to read and understand shop paperwork.
  • Ability to use direct reading and fixed gauges.
  • Ability to work with percentages and decimals.
  • Must achieve forklift certification.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in a hot environment.

Responsibilities

  • Proper weight and clamp placement per mold size before pouring.
  • Inspect sprue and risers for correctness and remove any debris.
  • Read master sheets for requirements and special instructions.
  • Utilize proper pouring techniques, including even stream, maintaining a full pour box, and correct riser height.
  • Employ proper gas removal techniques during pouring.
  • Place hot topping and heat tags after pouring.
  • Remove clamps and weights when the poured item is cool.
  • Place ladles on a preheater and safely light them.
  • Knock out, replace, or repair lining in ladles, including safety liners.
  • Make ceramic pots for hand shanks.
  • Safely operate a hoist.
  • Safely operate a forklift.
  • Read and understand master sheets.
  • Read measuring devices.
  • Work safely in a team environment.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping for the work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
