About The Position

This position is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and preparing poultry houses; removing used litter and placing new shavings; assisting with bird movement; maintaining farm equipment; and completing related farm duties. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, including holidays, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The schedule may change based on production needs. Applicants must have no disciplinary actions within the past six months, no more than six attendance points, and six months in their current area unless they are being promoted. Employees must follow company safety, biosecurity, and animal welfare requirements, including showering and changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility, avoiding contact with avian species, and signing and following the applicable company guidelines. Company-provided clothing and footwear are required, and jewelry is generally prohibited except for medical ID jewelry and piercings covered by appropriate clothing. The role involves working on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold conditions. Employees must maintain situational awareness around equipment and livestock and use required personal protective equipment. The successful candidate must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

No disciplinary actions within the last six months.
Attendance point level of six or fewer.
Six months in the current area, unless being promoted, in which case less than six months in the current area is allowable.
Willingness to sign an agreement to avoid avian species and to sign and follow company biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines.
Ability to safely lift and move items up to 50 pounds regularly; occasional handling of loads up to 2,000 pounds may require tools such as a pallet jack.
Ability to stand for most of the shift, walk, sit, handle objects and controls, reach, balance, climb ladders, bend or stoop frequently, talk or hear, and drive within the farm complex.
Ability to proficiently operate a trailer, tractor, and skid steer.
Willingness to use chemicals such as Synergize, Virocid, bleach, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, barn soap, and Lysol.
Ability and willingness to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Remove used litter from poultry houses; clean and disinfect poultry houses and equipment, including vehicles and tractors, using a commercial pressure washer; and place new shavings in houses after cleaning.
Move birds as required to laying or pedigree houses or to the live-haul loading area, and ensure wing bands are removed from birds leaving the farm.
Maintain tractors, pressure washers, litter trucks, trailers, and mechanical equipment, including completing weekly and maintenance safety checks.
Euthanize selected or weak or ill birds in accordance with company policy.
Perform other duties and activities as assigned.
Follow applicable safety policies and procedures, identify and mitigate safety risks, and comply with biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines.
