About The Position

This position is responsible for the implementation of pottery and ceramics activities for all ages. Key duties include planning and executing specific pottery and/or ceramics projects, setting up equipment, and cleaning up after classes. The instructor will also be responsible for instructing and supervising participants, as well as cleaning and organizing supplies. Communication with the Lead Pottery Instructor is essential for following kiln firing schedules, communicating firing needs, and reporting supply requirements. The role also involves loading and emptying the kiln as needed. A high quality of customer service, professionalism, and adherence to Wheaton Park District policies, procedures, and guidelines are expected. The instructor is also required to proactively support the District's V.A.L.U.E.S. (integrity, fun, commitment, adaptability and growth, kindness, and service) daily and maintain good safety awareness by following all safety guidelines and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • CPR/AED certified or obtain within one (1) year of employment.
  • Be a 'Mandated Reporter' for the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pottery and ceramics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan specific pottery and/or ceramics projects.

  • Report supply needs to Lead Pottery Instructor.

  • Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer.
  • Follow the Wheaton Park District policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
