About The Position

We are seeking a skilled PostgreSQL Database Engineer for a long-term contract position located in Plano, TX. The role requires extensive experience in maintaining PostgreSQL databases within a cloud environment, specifically AWS. The successful candidate will be responsible for migrating existing databases (Oracle) to PostgreSQL, developing and documenting migration solutions, and ensuring the integrity of migration results. This role also involves working with various AWS services, containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and demonstrating strong communication and documentation skills.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of overall experience in Information and Technology.
• Experience in maintaining databases in a cloud environment in PostgreSQL.
• Experience in migrating existing database (Oracle) to PostgreSQL.
• Experience writing migration solutions explaining the method of conversion.
• Experience with cloud technologies specifically in AWS.
• Prior experience with Aurora, RDS, VPC, Route53, EBS, S3, EC2, SNS.
• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience in handling RDS, Aurora, EDB, DynamoDB.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Excellent user handling skills and attitude.
• Strong knowledge in software architecture, data structures, modern design patterns, microservices, and internet protocols.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to create, maintain, and troubleshoot Kubernetes deployments is a strong plus.

Responsibilities
