Postdoctoral Scientist – Worden Lab
About The Position
We are looking for an outstanding individual interested in working at the interface between the evolutionary and biological sciences – with studies extending from the lab to field. This is an entry-level postdoctoral position in marine microbiology. The successful candidate will have exceptional skills in advanced flow cytometry, strong bioinformatic skills, and working knowledge of open ocean microbial communities. A Ph.D. degree in Geophysical Sciences or molecular microbial biology and ecology are most desirable. The candidate should be team-spirited and have experience with sea-going research.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in microbiology, microbial ecology, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or genetics.
- Strong flow cytometry skills with research-grade instruments.
- Record of scientific rigor, productivity, and creativity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong publication record.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in bioinformatic analysis of metatranscriptomics, gene expression (RNA-Seq) and/or comparative genomics or metagenomics.
- Knowledge of extraction processes, PCR, amplicon generation, and other molecular biology approaches.
- Experience with sea-going research.
