About The Position

The Department of Earth and Climate Sciences at Tufts University is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to join a research group focused on glacier and landscape response to past climate change. The position is supervised by Dr. Allie Balter-Kennedy and offers opportunities to work on topics such as glacier reconstructions, integrating paleoglacier model outputs and observational data, and geochemical methods development. The department is an undergraduate-only department within a vibrant R1 research community, providing access to a new cosmogenic-nuclide laboratory and the Tufts HPC cluster. The location in the Greater Boston metropolitan area offers access to collaborators at other academic institutions.

Requirements

  • PhD by the start of employment.
  • Track record of independent research.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in cosmogenic-nuclide geochemistry, glacial geomorphology, and/or glacier modeling.
  • Prior experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Prior experience with scientific programming in MATLAB or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of an inclusive and collaborative research group.
  • Mentor undergraduate researchers.
  • Contribute to the development of new projects.
