About The Position

Postdoctoral position is open in behavioral neuroscience laboratory with a focus on the molecular mechanisms underlying sex differences in substance use disorder. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with the Principal Investigator and other lab members understand the functional relevance of sex differences in the brain’s reward circuitry as well as design and execute their own independent research circuitry. Techniques include chemogenetics, retrograde tracing, immunohistochemistry and fiber photometry, RNA- and ChIP-seq, behavioral assays and other cellular and molecular neuroscience approaches.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in relevant field

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, molecular biology, Psychology or related field
  • Ability to code in python and R
  • Familiar with rodent behavior

Responsibilities

  • Planning and designing research experiments
  • Establishing priorities and schedules
  • Obtaining cost estimates
  • Data collection, processing and analysis, including statistical analyses
  • Presentation of project results
  • Producing written documents (abstracts, manuscripts) on the result of analyses
  • Contributing to preparation of grant proposals to NIH and private foundations
  • Training new staff, graduate students, and student volunteers
  • Other duties as assigned
  • General lab maintenance including ordering and setting up equipment
  • Running experiments and analyzing data for the lab
