About The Position
A NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Haam in the Department of Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University. The research projects will utilize multidisciplinary approaches that combine photometry, electrophysiology, miniature endoscopy, rodent behavior, histology, transcriptome, and computational analysis to investigate memory circuits in the entorhinal cortex and their interactions with the hippocampal and neocortical regions.
Requirements
- PhD in Biological Sciences or related field.
- Solid background in neuroscience and biology, which includes but is not limited to electrophysiology, molecular biology, rodent behavioral testing, and computational approaches.
- Valid U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and maintain that valid work authorization throughout employment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in in vivo or in vitro electrophysiology, calcium imaging, transcriptome, or computational neuroscience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in vivo or in vitro experiments to elucidate neural circuits responsible for memory formation.
- Perform in-depth analysis of data and conduct literature search to keep abreast of the new findings in the field.
- Train undergraduate and graduate students in the lab.
- Assist in grant writing.
- Present findings during lab meetings, departmental seminars, and scientific conferences.
