The Comba Laboratory in the Department of Pathology, Division of Neuropathology, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researcher to join our multidisciplinary team investigating the mechanisms of glioblastoma (GBM) progression and therapeutic resistance. Our research focuses on understanding how interactions between glioma cells and the brain microenvironment drive tumor invasion, recurrence, and treatment resistance. We combine cancer biology, neuroscience, extracellular matrix biology, spatial transcriptomics, advanced imaging, and immunology to identify novel therapeutic strategies for malignant brain tumors. The successful candidate will have access to a highly collaborative research environment and state-of-the-art technologies, including patient-derived glioblastoma models, orthotopic mouse models, 3D organotypic brain slice cultures, live-cell imaging approaches, multiplex immunofluorescence, RNAscope, spatial transcriptomics (10x Visium HD, Xenium), flow cytometry, and bioinformatics analyses. The Comba Laboratory collaborates extensively with investigators across the UAB O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Department of Neurosurgery, the Department of Pathology, and national and international leaders in neuro-oncology, extracellular matrix biology, neuroscience, and spatial biology.
