About The Position

The Zeleke Therapeutic Development Laboratory in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the L. S. Skaggs College of Pharmacy and Health Professions, Idaho State University, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join our funded cancer drug discovery program. This is a full-time position with up to two years of support, contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding. Our laboratory focuses on the discovery and development of innovative small-molecule therapeutics for cancer. The successful candidate will contribute to projects aimed at developing next-generation anticancer agents and will have opportunities to publish research findings, present at scientific meetings, and mentor graduate and undergraduate trainees. This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, flow cytometry, Western blotting, microscopy, drug screening, or related experimental techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong publication record or demonstrated research productivity.
  • Valid U.S. work authorization

  • Experience in anticancer drug discovery.

  • Strong publication record and demonstrated ability to contribute to independent and collaborative research projects.
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate trainees.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct cellular, molecular, and pharmacological studies to evaluate the activity, mechanism of action, target engagement, and resistance mechanisms of novel anticancer compounds.
  • Perform mammalian cell culture and assays including viability, proliferation, apoptosis, cell-cycle analysis, Western blotting, and related protein-based techniques.
  • Conduct and support preclinical animal studies to evaluate antitumor efficacy, pharmacology, and tolerability of lead compounds.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data and collaborate with medicinal chemistry and computational researchers to guide compound prioritization and optimization.
  • Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and scientific presentations, and contribute to mentoring graduate and undergraduate trainees.
  • Maintain accurate research records and comply with laboratory, biosafety, and animal-research requirements.
