A Postdoctoral Training position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Xiaochen Bai, Associate Professor in the Department of Biophysics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. The Postdoctoral Researcher will conduct advanced research under assigned directives aligned with the scientific mission of the Bai lab. Bai lab focuses on the structural and functional analyses of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) to understand how different RTKs employ unique, receptor-specific strategies to initiate and regulate signal transduction. This candidate will solve the dimeric or higher-order oligomeric structure of ligand-bound RTK by using single-particle cryo-EM. After determining the structure, structure-based mutagenesis will follow to investigate the functional role of the dimerization or higher-order oligomerization in RTK signaling. Core responsibilities include recombinant protein expression and purification, single-particle cryo-EM structural determination, structural modelling and cell-based functional analysis. The postdoc will be expected to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to data acquisition and interpretation to help advance innovative discoveries within the lab.
