The Display Systems Research (DSR) group at Meta Reality Labs is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our vision science program for a two-year, on-site position focusing on color perception in augmented reality (AR) displays. This role will help pioneer foundational research into how color is perceived in see-through displays with novel architectures, addressing critical gaps in existing color science and enabling display technologies in next-generation AR devices. Recent work from the team in color perception includes, “Comprehensive Characterization of Human Color Discrimination Thresholds” (Hong et al., eLife, 2025). As a postdoctoral scientist you will also have the opportunity to publish high-impact research in both basic and applied journals (e.g., SIGGRAPH, JOV, etc.). You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to design and conduct psychophysical experiments, develop new models of color appearance, and build testbeds for evaluating color performance in AR hardware. Your work will directly inform the design, calibration, and optimization of AR display architectures, ensuring that Meta’s products deliver industry-leading visual experiences.
