About The Position

Under the supervision of an SDSU Faculty member, this position is intended to provide mentored advanced training to enhance professional skills and research independence in the Post Doc's academic discipline. Examples of Post Doc responsibilities include: assisting in data collection, management, analysis and dissemination; conducting highly specialized and advanced experiments; designing research protocols; summarizing research findings; mentoring undergraduate/graduate students; preparing manuscripts, attending conferences and presenting at conferences. Work may be performed in the field or in a laboratory setting.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree in an appropriate field
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience
  • Research experiences in Biology
  • Best practices in terms of laboratory safety compliance
  • Best practices in terms of scientific data documentation and reporting
  • Basic skills in rodent models of disease
  • Experience with standard statistical analyses of data
  • Experience with scientific data documentation and reporting

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D in Biology
  • Experience managing a Biology research lab with the mouse model for experiments
  • Experience in cancer research is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct biological investigations
  • Prepare grant applications and manuscripts for peer-review
  • Interpret data in context of research field
  • Mentor and train students and junior staff members
  • Attend departmental meetings
  • Contribute to grant progress reports
