About The Position

Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join their team. Requirements

  • Doctorate degree required
  • 0-1 year of experience: Machine learning for engineering design and simulation
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered

Responsibilities

  • Predicting defects and assessing weld quality of mechanical parts in real-time by developing machine learning models that use sensor data
  • Understanding various concepts in welding and related mechanical engineering processes
  • Cleaning existing datasets
  • Creating deep learning models
  • Using deep learning to create a robust model that predicts welding defects based on sensor data
  • Perform other project-related duties as assigned
