About The Position

This position involves planning and conducting experiments, designing, operating, and troubleshooting laboratory reactors, plasma systems, and experimental apparatus. The role also includes operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation such as FTIR, UV-Vis, XRF, and mass spectrometry, as well as interpreting the data obtained. A key aspect of the role is developing research concepts and preliminary results into proposals for sponsors, preparing publications, and contributing to new externally funded projects. Additionally, the position supports technology development through prototype fabrication and testing, and intellectual property documentation. The role also requires providing technical guidance to graduate and undergraduate students.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Doctor of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a closely related scientific or engineering discipline
  • 2 years of demonstrated experience in experimental research
  • 2 years of demonstrated experience in construction and troubleshooting of laboratory systems
  • 2 years of demonstrated experience in analytical instrumentation
  • Experience with FTIR, DRIFT, ATR, UV-Vis, XRF, mass spectrometry is required
  • Working knowledge of laboratory practices and safety regulations required
  • Ability to instruct and /or supervise students required
