Postdoctoral Research Associate
About The Position
Dr. Liqing Li and Dr. Mani Rouhi Rad in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in environmental economics. The successful candidate will contribute to a research program focused on environmental valuation using mobility data and property transaction data, with applications across Texas and the broader United States. The project integrates econometric analysis, non-market valuation approaches, and policy evaluation to better understand the value of environmental amenities and the welfare impacts of extreme weather events. This position offers strong opportunities for co-authorship on academic publications and collaboration on externally funded research projects.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a closely related field.
- Strong training in applied econometrics, including causal inference methods.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and write for academic audiences.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Research experience in environmental or resource economics.
- Familiarity with revealed preference valuation methods (e.g., hedonic, travel cost)
- Proficiency in Python and/or R.
- Experience working with large or spatial datasets.
- Interest in policy-relevant research and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Conduct empirical research on environmental valuation using mobility data and property transaction data.
- Clean, manage, and analyze large datasets using modern econometric and computational tools.
- Contribute to the development of academic manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
- Assist with grant proposal development and related research activities.
- Collaborate with other researchers, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students, and provide occasional guidance on data and methods.
