About The Position

The Charles lab focuses on reducing the global burden of mucosal and enteric infections in underserved populations. Research efforts are directed towards understanding host-pathogen interactions and immune responses during infections caused by V. cholerae and Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi and Paratyphi A. The goal is to identify antigens or molecular signatures for vaccine and diagnostic assay development. The lab uses human patient samples to conduct immunological, functional, and genome-scale assays to investigate protective immunity, pathogen mechanisms, develop diagnostic tools for resource-limited settings, and improve vaccine strategies. The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to research investigations and assist in research program administration, including supervising research activities, staff training, and grant writing.
