About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research program focused on the role of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in improving outcomes in cell replacement therapy for neurodegenerative disease. The successful candidate will lead studies aimed at defining how Tregs modulate immune responses associated with transplantation and how they may enhance graft survival and function. The postdoctoral fellow will investigate the immunosuppressive activity of Tregs, including their capacity to regulate host inflammatory responses before and after transplantation. A major emphasis of the project will be to understand the mechanisms that influence Treg survival, persistence, and function post-transplantation. The fellow will also study approaches to mitigate the pro-inflammatory response associated with needle trauma, a key barrier to successful cell delivery and engraftment. In addition, the candidate will explore the biology of local brain-resident or tissue-localized Tregs and their role in limiting neuroinflammation within the transplant microenvironment. This work will integrate cellular immunology, transplantation biology, and neuroinflammation, with the goal of developing strategies that improve the safety and efficacy of regenerative therapies in the central nervous system. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing area of investigation at the interface of immunology, neuroscience, and regenerative medicine, with strong potential for high-impact publications and translational relevance.

Requirements

  • Strong background in immunology, neuroimmunology, stem cell biology, transplantation biology, or a related biomedical field
