About The Position

The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee. The Computer Science Department at The University of Alabama seeks candidates for a Postdoctoral Fellow position. This role is open to individuals with research interests in optimization, evolutionary computation, and machine learning. Initial appointments are for one year.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or terminal degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field
• Strong collaboration skills
• Strong analytical and computational skills, including but not limited to an in-depth knowledge and extensive experience of python programming, deep neural network analysis, and large language models
• Ability to work independently and generate innovative, out-of-box research ideas
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

• Nine (9) months of active postdoctoral research experience
• Record of academic achievement through publications and scholarly contributions
• Publication record in optimization, evolutionary computation, and machine learning
• Experience with multi-objective optimization and multi-criteria decision-making
• Experience with data visualization
