Postdoctoral Fellow - Psychology Department (Clinical)
About The Position
The Albert J. Solnit Children’s Center, part of the State of Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF), is seeking qualified individuals for Post-Doctoral Fellow Psychologist (Clinical) positions. These positions are located at the Solnit South Campus-Children's Hospital in Middletown, CT. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week role, typically Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with one position requiring an adjusted schedule of 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Schedule flexibility may be necessary to meet agency needs. The role involves managing an individual caseload of 2-3 youth, conducting individual and family therapy, performing psychological assessments, and writing associated reports.
Requirements
- Graduated from an educational program approved by the Board of Examiners of Psychologists with consent of the Commissioner of Public Health.
- Possession of a doctorate degree in psychology from a college or university program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or as otherwise determined by the Board and the Commissioner.
- Completion of a one (1) year clinical internship.
- Considerable knowledge of abnormal and clinical psychology with a general knowledge of other psychological disciplines.
- Knowledge of selection, administration, scoring, and evaluation of intelligence, achievement, personality, and diagnostic tests.
- Knowledge of psychological research techniques.
- Considerable interpersonal skills.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to make psychological diagnosis and prognosis.
- Ability to conduct psychotherapy.
- Ability to provide consultation and training services.
- Ability to write case histories, discharge summaries, and professional reports.
- Ability to relate experimental data to treatment modalities.

- Experience providing clinical services to children, adolescents, and/or transition-age youth with complex psychiatric profiles and to their families.
- Experience collaborating with community systems of care.
- Experience implementing evidence-based practice and working as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.

- Experience utilizing varying testing measures with considerable knowledge and skill in selection, administration, scoring, and evaluating of intelligence, achievement, and personality and diagnostic tests for adolescents.
- Fluency in a foreign language or proficiency in the use of the American Sign Language may be required.
- May be required to travel.
Responsibilities
- Manage an individual caseload of 2-3 youth.
- Conduct individual and family therapy.
- Conduct psychological assessments and associated report writing.
- Select and administer diagnostic tests to patients/clients with psychopathological manifestations.
- Analyze results of tests and develop treatment plans.
- Conduct individual and group psychotherapy, family counseling, and community consultations under supervision.
- Make recommendations for transfer, discharge, and follow-up activities.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and coordination of new service programs.
- Conduct psychological research.
- Write professional reports.
- May assist in the supervision of psychology interns.
- Perform related duties as required.
