About The Position

This position is for a Postdoctoral Fellow or Staff Scientist to join a translational prostate cancer research program at the Li and Shuck Laboratories within the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope. The research focuses on prostate cancer progression and therapeutic response using in vivo and in vitro tumor models, tumor metabolism, and tumor microenvironment (TME) biology, including studies involving radiotherapy and radioligand-based approaches. The lab fosters a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with access to state-of-the-art core facilities. The role is open at either the Postdoctoral or Staff Scientist level, depending on experience, independence, and leadership readiness.

Requirements

  • PhD in cancer biology, immunology, molecular biology, or a related biomedical science.
  • Strong hands-on experience with in-vivo mouse tumor models.
  • Demonstrated record of scientific productivity through peer-reviewed publications.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative research environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with prostate cancer models (e.g., PDX, organoids, syngeneic systems).
  • Background in tumor immunology, metabolism, or TME biology.
  • Experience with immunophenotyping, imaging, and/or multi-omics approaches.
  • Familiarity with radiotherapy or radioligand therapy models.
  • For Staff Scientist candidates: prior experience mentoring trainees or leading complex experimental workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and optimize rigorous in vivo and in vitro experiments related to prostate cancer biology.
  • Lead or contribute to independent and collaborative research projects, depending on career stage.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data at laboratory meetings, institutional forums, and scientific conferences.
  • Contribute to manuscript preparation, publications, and grant-related activities.
  • Collaborate closely with clinicians, computational scientists, and institutional core facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and compliant research documentation in accordance with institutional policies.
