About The Position

The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate to contribute to multiple NIH-funded research projects. This position is designed for a highly motivated researcher with strong training in environmental and occupational health and a demonstrated interest in the health effects of environmental exposures, including toxicants and infections, on respiratory and immune outcomes. The Postdoctoral Associate will take a leadership role in ongoing studies by developing novel and impactful research questions, conducting high-quality data analyses, and leading the preparation of peer‑reviewed manuscripts and lay communications. The successful Candidate will engage in interdisciplinary research that integrates environmental exposure assessment, mechanistic or epidemiologic approaches, and population health, with relevance to both U.S. and global contexts.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in public health or a closely related field.
  • Strong background in environmental or occupational health research, including exposure-related health effects.
  • Demonstrated interest in respiratory health, immune or infectious disease outcomes, and/or environmentally driven disease mechanisms.
  • Evidence of peer-reviewed research productivity.
  • Experience working in collaborative research teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • A doctoral degree in Environmental Health or Environmental and Occupational Health is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop novel and impactful research questions.
  • Conduct high-quality data analyses.
  • Lead the preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts and lay communications.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary research that integrates environmental exposure assessment, mechanistic or epidemiologic approaches, and population health.
  • Produce 1-2 first-authored manuscripts per year.
  • Submit one or more abstracts annually to major scientific conferences.
  • Maintain consistent progress toward independent research leadership.
  • Attend and present research at relevant scientific meetings.
  • Present findings at departmental seminars, guest lectures, and local scientific events.
  • Participate in structured career development activities.
  • Develop independent research aims and funding applications suitable for external support.
