About The Position

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applicants for a Postal Specialist at The Citadel Post Office (CPU). The Citadel, also known as the Military College of South Carolina, is a public senior military college located in Charleston, South Carolina. There are about 2,300 undergraduate students who make up the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. Out of the Corps of Cadets, 1 out of 3 graduates earn a military commission. Students can choose from 31 Majors, 57 Minors, pre-health professions, and pre-law (a concentration in political science). The 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio guarantees students a quality education. Another 1,000 students attend the Graduate College, evening and online programs.

Requirements

• High school diploma and at least one(1) year of postal operations experience or equivalent combination of education, training or experience
• Ability to lift up to 20lbs
• Ability to work independently and effectively with students, faculty, staff and community
• Ability to exercise initiative and judgement
• Excellent communication skills
• Able to work a flexible schedule

Responsibilities

• Extensive knowledge of postal policies, procedures, rules and regulations for processing and distributing mail
• Superior customer service and sales skills to operate the postal retail window
• Ability to accurately maintain cash drawer and stamp stock
• Ability to navigate and process packages through Package Tracking Systems and Software
• Must be able to work in close quarters and under very busy times
