About The Position

Registered Nurses are accountable for providing safe and reliable patient care in accordance with JSMC policy and procedure, CMS standards and regulations, and Joint Commission standards and regulations. This role involves establishing a compassionate environment, promoting patient independence through education, and ensuring quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards and measuring health outcomes. The nurse will resolve patient problems by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies, maintain a safe and clean working environment, and protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Documentation of patient care services, maintaining continuity among nursing teams, and protecting patient confidentiality are key aspects of this role. Additionally, the nurse will ensure equipment operation through preventive maintenance and troubleshooting, and maintain professional knowledge by participating in continuing education and professional development activities. The role requires accurate nursing history and assessment completion within 24 hours of admission, delivery of age-appropriate care, delegation of duties based on patient needs, and utilization of critical thinking for prioritization of care. Development, prioritization, and maintenance of individualized plans of care, coordination with the healthcare team, and incorporation of discharge planning needs are essential. Accurate, pertinent, timely, and legible documentation of interventions, administration of medications observing the "6 rights", and maintaining a Barcode Override rate below 10% are required. Medication administration must be correct based on the patient's age and clinical condition, and care and health teaching should include patients, caregivers, and disciplines. The ability to supervise staff members providing direct patient care and practice within the scope of the license are also necessary. As a Studer Group Partner, Registered Nurses must develop a full understanding of Studer Group practices and tools, communicate them effectively, and embrace the Studer Philosophy and Principles by conducting themselves professionally. Registered Nurses will be held accountable to Studer Philosophies and Principles including HCAHPS Patient Perception, Hourly Rounding with Intention, Bedside Shift Report, AIDET, and Daily Huddles.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements.
  • Establishing a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
  • Promoting patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient, friends, and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions.
  • Assuring quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
  • Resolving patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
  • Maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
  • Protecting patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Documenting patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Maintaining continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintaining patient confidence and protecting operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Ensuring operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Completes Nursing History and Assessment accurately within the 24 hours of admission.
  • Determines and delivers age appropriate care.
  • Delegates duties based on complexity of patient needs.
  • Utilization of critical thinking skills in prioritization of care.
  • Develops, prioritizes, updates and maintains individualized plan of care.
  • Coordinates and collaborates Plan of Care with health care team.
  • Incorporates Discharge planning needs on the Plan of Care.
  • Documents interventions that are accurate, pertinent, timely and legible.
