About The Position

To recommend, implement and ensure policies and procedures for uniform compliance with the processing of post summary operations. Reviewing errors at the fault of FedEx Logistics and working to implement and recommend corrective action within the Post Summary Operations Team as well as providing and recommending corrective action with import entries at all clearance locations with the US Brokerage Team. Monitors and controls operational activities in regards to entry summary creation at all ports of entry by ensuring consistent and uniform processing, developing and reviewing reports and reporting methods, writing procedures and resolving customer and technical issues found within the Post Summary Operations Team. Initiates and responds to Managers, Sr. managers, Managing Directors, and VPs of US Brokerage and Regulatory Compliance regarding entry summary creation and other entry related activities and aspects of FXL T&B, our customers, Federal Express Corporation partnership, including contractual agreements, customer requirements, services offered and quality assurance. Analyzes and assesses compliance with U.S. Customs and other government agencies laws and regulations. Coordinates and participates in Quality Driven Management Quality Action Teams, (QAT) and the development and implementation of new services offered to Federal Express Corporation as it relates to post summary corrections and processing of both Express Clearance and conventional entries to improve the customer dispute process. Identifies areas requiring improvement and coordinates processes to ensure productivity gains to expedite Federal Express Corporation freight. Maintains relationship with U.S. Customs at all clearance locations to ensure Federal Express Corporation and their customers are responding adequately to customs requirements and that we are properly representing Federal Express Corporation interests. Identifies and coordinates training needs required for operations at all Federal Express Corporation locations. Transmits entry corrections to CBP including high visibility and high value changes within the entries such as protests, looking for AFR. Communicates and executes corrections based on information received and sent to FXL Legal. Communicates with customers, internal operations and departments regarding difficult situations encountered in various entry types: FTZ, AD/CVD, FTA, TFTEA and other complex CBP based compliance subject matters. Engages in written correspondence or telephone conversations with shippers, clients, company employees, US customs and border protection (CBP) and other government agencies concerning information or documentation required by CBP or client to further explain or clarify information. Exercises discretion and judgement regarding all entry handling within PSOT by disseminating entries that are on the FXL bond and responsibility thereof, and those not on our bond where the importer (our customer) is the Importer of Record on any given entry. If there are questions, judgement to elevate to management must be considered. Participates in relevant educational experiences, reads job related literature, keeps up to date on new trends and laws effecting the processing of entries, and improves capabilities to meet changing job requirements. Shares technical information with internal and external customers. Utilizes technical knowledge and expertise on entry corrections while maintaining compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree/equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of industry experience with advanced brokerage knowledge.
  • Experience with air express and conventional environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of US Customs and other federal agency laws, regulations, and procedures governing the customs brokerage industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of customs and other government agency requirements specific to individual industries and products.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including leadership, problem-solving, and the ability to work quickly, accurately, and thoroughly with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in resolving complex import issues through analytical research, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • General understanding of accounting practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills for leading or assisting PSOT, brokerage operations, account executives, and customer negotiations or status reporting.
  • Creative, outside-the-box thinking to solve problems and advise on corrective actions.
  • Ability to use good judgment and initiative, considering advantages, disadvantages, and potential adverse consequences.
  • Strong customer service orientation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to review CBP Receivable accounts, render decisions of fault (customer vs. FXL), and authorize approvals.
