About The Position

This position works in the LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum) as well as the Special Care Nursery (SCN). The department has 3 inpatient beds, 2 observation, 2 triage, and 1 SCN bed. The nurse-patient ratio varies, with approximately 250 deliveries per year. Call is required with a 60-minute response time. The hospital is a critical access hospital committed to providing quality healthcare services to residents in Crawford, Franklin, and Washington counties. It has an enhanced and expanded range of services including a state-of-the-art emergency department, modern childbirth center, critical care unit, multi-room surgical suite, expanded cardiac rehab services, and a cancer center. A medical office building provides offices for primary care physicians and visiting specialists. The hospital also operates four rural health clinics, a Therapy and Rehabilitation department, and a Wound Care Center with two hyperbaric chambers. The childbirth center features six spacious private suites for labor, delivery, recovery, and discharge, with a centralized nurses' station and a triage room.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one-year hospital-based RN experience
  • RN License
  • Nursing Diploma/Associate's in Nursing
  • Must be within 60 minutes response time for call

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.
  • Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
  • Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Participates in professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
  • Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
  • Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
  • Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
