About The Position

The Post Heart Transplant outpatient team is looking for an Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (APP) to join their team! This is a full-time position with five 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday. There is no weekend, night, or holiday requirement, but rotating on-call duties are required. The APP will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care in the outpatient clinical setting at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program.
• Must be approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Virginia.
• Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required.
• BLS and ACLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.
• Nurse Practitioner: Master’s Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
• Nurse Practitioner: License to practice as a Registered Nurse required.
• Nurse Practitioner: Certification in practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required.
• Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
• Demonstrate appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills when working in a fasted paced, high acuity work environment.
• Able to perform a thorough history and physical assessment.
• VA License
• For Nurse Practitioners: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post-masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, OR certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing.
• For Physician Assistants: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Minimum Requirements: Certification - Basic Life Support prior to start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (for Critical Care) upon start; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (for Pediatrics) upon start.
• Minimum Requirements: Licensure - Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License (depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances).

Nice To Haves

• APP experience preferred.
• Prior transplant and/or cardiology experience preferred.
• ACNP, AGACNP certification preferred based on population served.
• Master’s Degree preferred for Physician Assistant.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
• EPIC experience preferred.
• No prior experience required; APP experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care in the outpatient clinical setting at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.
• Provide outpatient coverage at Inova's Post Heart Transplant Clinic at Fairfax Medical Campus.
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team.
• Perform rotating on-call duties, including patient phone calls 24/7.
• Complete 12 weeks of onboarding.
