About The Position

The Post-Harvest Technician supports the day-to-day production of compliant, retail-ready cannabis products at Smith Farms North, with a primary focus on pre-roll production, flower packaging, labeling, and related post-harvest work. This is a hands-on production role responsible for accurately preparing, weighing, assembling, packaging, and labeling cannabis products while meeting company expectations for safety, quality, cleanliness, and productivity. The Post-Harvest Technician follows established SOPs and production priorities, maintains accurate product handling and documentation, and works collaboratively with post-harvest, cultivation, manufacturing, inventory, and compliance team members.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in cannabis production, packaging, food manufacturing, assembly, agriculture, or a similar environment preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform accurate weighing, counting, labeling, and recordkeeping
  • Ability to follow written SOPs, verbal instructions, production specifications, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to perform repetitive, detail-oriented work while maintaining quality and productivity
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to adjust to changing production priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and regularly bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive hand movements; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions when instructions or quality expectations are unclear
  • Must be 21+ and pass the required state background check

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cannabis flower for pre-roll production, including sorting, grinding, sifting, and staging material according to SOPs
  • Operate pre-roll production equipment and hand-finish products as assigned
  • Fill, weigh, pack, twist, close, and inspect pre-rolls to meet established product specifications
  • Assemble pre-roll singles and multi-packs accurately and consistently
  • Meet daily production goals while minimizing product loss, rework, and waste
  • Weigh and package flower, pre-rolls, and other assigned products using approved containers and materials
  • Apply labels, batch information, tamper-evident seals, and required product identifiers accurately
  • Verify product weights, counts, labels, lot information, and package presentation before completion
  • Stage finished products and packaging supplies in an organized manner to support production priorities
  • Identify and report damaged materials, equipment issues, weight variances, labeling errors, or product quality concerns
  • Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready production and packaging workspaces
  • Assist with other production, packaging, and post-harvest tasks based on business needs
  • Support bucking, trimming, sorting, and preparation of dried cannabis flower as assigned
  • Handle cannabis carefully to protect product quality, potency, appearance, and traceability
  • Move product and supplies between approved work and storage areas following chain-of-custody requirements
  • Follow daily work assignments and communicate progress, delays, or material needs to the supervisor
  • Work collaboratively with team members to maintain efficient production flow and meet deadlines
  • Follow all company SOPs and Minnesota cannabis regulations for product handling, packaging, labeling, storage, and waste
  • Complete production logs, weight records, counts, and other required documentation accurately and on time
  • Maintain separation and identification of batches, lots, strains, and work-in-process materials
  • Support inventory counts, product reconciliation, and audit preparation as directed
  • Immediately report product discrepancies, contamination concerns, or compliance issues to the supervisor
  • Inspect finished products for weight, fill, seal, label placement, appearance, and overall quality
  • Follow sanitation, personal hygiene, PPE, and cross-contamination prevention requirements
  • Clean and sanitize tools, equipment, tables, containers, and production areas before, during, and after work
  • Use equipment safely and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
  • Contribute ideas that improve product quality, consistency, safety, or production efficiency
