About The Position

The Center for Urban Science and Progress at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Post Doctoral Associate to work in the Dynamical Systems Laboratory (DSL). NYU Tandon School of Engineering is committed to excellence in teaching and learning, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. The DSL, established twenty years ago by Prof. Maurizio Porfiri, is a collaborative group of scholars with expertise in theory, experiments, and computations. Prof. Porfiri is a highly published and awarded researcher.

Requirements

• PhD in physics, biology, engineering, mathematics, computational science, or a related field.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• Demonstrated background in mathematical modeling, data science, and/or experimental methods.
• Demonstrated interest in working on interdisciplinary research topics.
• Technical depth to contribute to a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
• Strong publication record.

Nice To Haves

• Recent PhD.
• Individuals seeking additional postdoctoral training.
• Previous experience in interdisciplinary, high-impact research.

Responsibilities

• Making important contributions to one or multiple research projects supported by ongoing grants.
• Conducting research in areas such as urban science (data center siting, climate risk impacts, firearm-related harm), collective behavior (navigation in crowds, ant colony metabolism, slime-mold self-assembly), and network science (causal inference, control-theoretic approaches).
