About The Position

As a GE Vernova accelerator, GE Vernova Advanced Research is driving strategy and leading research & development efforts to execute on the business’s mission to power the energy transition. We forge the partnerships and invent the technologies required to electrify and decarbonize for a zero-carbon future. Representing virtually every major scientific and engineering discipline, our researchers are collaborating with GE Vernova’s businesses, the U.S. government, and more than 420 technology partners to execute on 150+ energy-focused projects. Collectively, these research programs and initiatives aim to solve near term technical challenges, deliver next generation product advances, and drive long term breakthrough innovation to enable more affordable, reliable, sustainable, and secure energy. As a Post Doctoral Researcher in AI team, you will work with GE Vernova Advanced Research, GEV Business, and external customers to build and execute strategic research and development programs focused in AI and Machine Learning for energy ecosystem. You will design, develop, and apply innovative AI technologies, including machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and foundation models, to tackle complex challenges in the energy sector. Your work will span the entire research spectrum, from fundamental theoretical and empirical investigations to prototyping and solution development. You will have the opportunity to define and work on diverse projects, including power generation, renewable energy, electric grids, robotics, and manufacturing, in collaboration with GE Vernova's business units and a broad network of Researchers across disciplines and domains.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with minimum 2 years' experience or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields with a focus on Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence
  • Experience in one or more of these R&D topics: (a) Training domain-specific large language models (LLM), (b) Development of time-series or multi-modal foundation models, and (c) Building and leveraging knowledge graphs for reasoning and memory.
  • Demonstrated ability to write Python code
  • Candidate must be willing to travel a minimum of 2 weeks per year
  • Must have work authorization for the US. We are unable to sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this position opening.
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY

  • Ph.D. focusing on new advancements in Machine Learning
  • Experience in writing grant proposals and participating in the execution of grant-supported research
  • Deep expertise in one or more of: LLM or multi-modal model training (text, image, etc.), Knowledge graphs
  • Contribution to public domain codebases and/or significant GitHub portfolio to demonstrate mastery and impact
  • Clear communication style to convey complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Employ software libraries, tools, and practices to implement efficient, scalable, and reusable solutions
