About The Position

The Moore Lab is a new translational research group at the Orthopedic Soft Tissue Research (OSTR) Program of the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). The Moore Lab focuses on improving recovery from orthopedic soft tissue injuries using biomaterials and drug delivery approaches. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work in a collaborative multidisciplinary team of surgeons, scientists and engineers, in a project aiming to develop of biomaterials to modulate pro-fibrotic signaling after musculoskeletal injuries. Qualified candidates must have a recent Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D degree in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, materials science, chemistry, molecular and cellular biology or a related field. Candidates are expected to have at least one peer-reviewed high quality first author publication and should be highly motivated and productive. Good written/oral communication skills in English, and experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques (e.g., flow cytometry, RNA isolation, protein analysis methods), rodent models, biomechanical analyses and cell culture/ in vitro models are highly desirable. Requirements

  • Recent Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D degree in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, materials science, chemistry, molecular and cellular biology or a related field.
  • At least one peer-reviewed high quality first author publication.
  • Highly motivated and productive.
  • Good written/oral communication skills in English.
  • Experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques (e.g., flow cytometry, RNA isolation, protein analysis methods).
  • Experience with rodent models.
  • Experience with biomechanical analyses.
  • Experience with cell culture/ in vitro models.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and translate into both lay and scientific terms.
  • Familiarity with computers and software including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • High levels of motivation, responsibility, and independence.
  • Detail oriented with focus on technical reproducibility.
  • Strong problem-solving/trouble shooting ability.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Expert knowledge and use of computers, software, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Prism, QuPath, R or Stata is helpful but not required.
  • Desire to rapidly learn new skills, bridging disciplines to creatively solve problems in a dynamic and evolving work environment.
  • Strong organizational, project, and time management skills.
  • Independently motivated, self-directed, and solution-driven.
  • Experience working with GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, Stata R or QuPath is beneficial but not required.
  • Knowledge of Orthopaedic and/or Rheumatologic terminology is a plus.

Responsibilities
